Deacon Ordination of Br. Daniel

On Saturday, December 13, 2025, the Church in Tiberias rejoiced as Brother Daniel was ordained a deacon in a solemn and joyful celebration. The ordination took place in the local parish, gathering faithful from the community and beyond to witness this important step in Brother Daniel’s journey of service to the Lord and His people.

The ceremony was presided over by His Beatitude, with Bishop Rafik Nahra present, alongside Fr. Piotr Zelazko, Vicar of St. James for Hebrew-speaking Catholics, and Fr. Giuseppe De Nardi, General Responsible of Koinonia Giovanni Battista. Their presence highlighted the unity and diversity of the Church in the Holy Land, as well as the deep commitment to forming ministers who will serve in love and humility.

The liturgy was enriched by the Gospel of the Third Sunday of Advent (Year A), where Jesus answers John’s question by pointing to the works of mercy and healing: “The blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.” This message resonates deeply with the vocation of a deacon, called to be a living sign of Christ’s service and compassion in the world.

The celebration concluded with heartfelt prayers for Brother Daniel’s ministry and a festive meal, where the community expressed gratitude for this new gift to the Church.
