Fr. Gregorz Pawlowski Died on October 21th


Rev. Grzegorz Pawlowski came back home in the age of 90.


Father Grzegorz (Gregor) Pawlowski was born in Poland as a Jew on August 23,1931 to his parents, Mendel son of Zeev and Miriam daughter of Isaac Griner. His name was Jacob (Jakub) Zvi “Hersch” (Hersz) Griner. His family lived in the town of Zamosc which was in the region of Lublin. He was 8-years old when the war started. His parents and sisters were killed, but young Gregor survived the Nazi terror. After the war he was received in an orphanage run by catholic nuns. He became a Christian and entered the seminary for the future priests.

On April 20, 1958, Gregor was ordained to the priesthood and started to work as a priest in Poland. In the years 1968-70 he studied at the Catholic University in Lublin. After finishing the studies he came to Israel where he served the numerous that time Polish faithful as well as the Hebrew speaking community. When Gregor was asked why he wanted to come to Israel, he replied: “My place is here, among the Jewish people. I sensed a call to come and serve Christians living in my country.”

Fr. Grzegorz wrote numerous books of poetry about his life and the life of Jesus, as well as about other religious and historical topics.

Fr. Pawlowski lived in Jaffo for more than 50 years, serving the faithful ang giving the testimony of Love of the Messiah. We will miss you, Gregor.
