Lent Walk with the Cross

Traditionally every year fr. Apolinary organizes the Lent Walk. It is an extreme Way of the Cross from Latrun to Jerusalem. The participants came also this year to pray on the way. We publish the relation of one of the participants.

On Tuesday, (27.02), a dozen members from the St. James communities embarked on the Way of the Cross. As is our tradition during Lent, we began our journey from the Latrun monastery at sunrise, ascending toward Jerusalem. However, this time, after a few hours of pleasant sunshine, heavy clouds gathered, and rain began to fall upon us. Undeterred, we continued to walk and pray at each of the fourteen stations along Jesus’ Way of the Cross. In this, we found a symbol of our unwavering desire to persevere despite life’s challenges, guided by faith in the light of the Lord’s journey.

At dusk, we reached Jerusalem, our hearts filled with gratitude for a safe arrival despite the difficulties. Upon reaching Ein Kerem, we replenished our spirits with an excellent and nourishing meal, graciously hosted by Fr. Severino at Casa Nova. We extend heartfelt thanks to Fr. Apolinary, the event organizer, and pray that God grants him strength and health for future journeys and treks. Special appreciation also goes to Fr. Roman, who supported and assisted us throughout the way with patience and kindness.

Our extreme Way of the Cross covered 40 kilometers, akin to the 40 days of Lent, spanning 14 hours—symbolic of the 14 stations.
