International Day of Prayer for Peace – January 31
Today, January 31, is the third International Day of Prayer for Peace in the Holy Land. Christians throughout the world are invited to pray in a special way for peace in the Holy Land and throughout the region.
At the Sunday Angelus prayer, Pope Benedict XVI added his voice to those of the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Fouad Twal and the Franciscan Custodian of the Holy Land, Father Pierbattista Pizzaballa, calling on all to pray for peace in the region.
This initiative began in 2009 and Christians are invited to consecrate time to prayer for peace.
