Pope meets rabbi from Buenos Aires


On April 25, 2013, Pope Francis met with Rabbi Isaac Sacca, Sephardi rabbi of Buenos Aires.

In a warm and friendly atmosphere, Pope Francis greeted a friend from Argentina when he met on Thursday, April 25, 2013 with Rabbi Isaac Sacca, the chief rabbi of the Sephardi Jewish community in Buenos Aires, and president of Menora, a Jewish youth group.

Rabbi Isaac Sacca studied in Israel under Rabbi Ovadiah Yossef, former Sephardi Chief Rabbi and is of Syrian origin. The chief rabbi for Sephardi Jews in Buenos Aires gave the Pope on ornately designed silver gourd, and a photo of the Pope's last visit to the Buenos Aires synagogue.
