Celebrating the Feast of Sukkot at Jerusalem Kehilla
“My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” (Isaiah 56:7)
The sukkah at Jerusalem Kehilla became just that - a house of prayer, welcome, and peace - as friends from across traditions gathered to celebrate the Feast of Sukkot.
The evening was graciously hosted by Fr. Benedetto di Bitonto and the Community of Jerusalem Kehilla, whose hospitality reflected the heart of the festival: opening our dwellings and hearts to one another.
Rabbi Oded Peles offered a special lecture, exploring the deep spiritual and biblical meaning of Sukkot and how it speaks to us today. His presence enriched the evening and reminded us of the shared values that unite us.
Before the program began, guests were invited to take 15 minutes to connect with someone new - sharing stories, smiles, and blessings.
As the Torah teaches:
“You shall rejoice in your festival - you, your son and daughter, your male and female servant, the Levite, the stranger, the orphan, and the widow in your communities.” (Deuteronomy 16:14)
This spirit of joy and inclusion was felt throughout the night.
The evening opened with a prayer led by Fr. Benedetto, inviting all into a space of reflection, unity, and thanksgiving. Light refreshments and warm fellowship followed, as participants rejoiced together under the sheltering presence of the Divine.
To stay connected with future events and reflections, guests were invited to subscribe to the newsletter of the St. James Vicariate, available in five languages.
Chag Sameach to all who joined - and thank you to our hosts for a beautiful evening of celebration and unity.
