Cardinal Pizzaballa Visits Jerusalem Community

On Sunday (02.02), on the occasion of the Feast of the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, the main feast of the Jerusalem Community, we were honored to receive the visit of the Patriarch, who celebrated the Lord’s Supper with us.

Although it was his third Mass that day, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa seemed happy to return to a place dear to his heart, where he is also very loved and appreciated.

The ceremony began outside with the blessing of candles and a procession into the Chapel of Simon and Hannah.

Before the end of the Mass, the Patriarch blessed two community members, Cecile and Ruhama, who celebrated their 90th birthdays, and even presented a gift to Sister Regina, (103), who celebrated 80 years of consecrated life in the Order of the Sisters of Zion.

The chapel was filled to the limits of its capacity. Many of the community members came, and several other distinguished guests made us happy, such as fr. Piotr, the Vicar of St. James or Rabbi Oded Peles, a good friend of the entire community.

At that time, Hanni and Claire from the Latin parish of San Salvatore joined the choir, helping us sing the “Mass of Hope” in Hebrew, Arabic, and English.

After the Lord’s Supper, the entire audience gathered in the moadon for festive refreshments filled with joy and love.

We ended the day with hearts full of gratitude to God, who gives us happy moments in the midst of such a challenging time
