The First Mass in Hebrew of fr. Mark

On Saturday July 13 (2024) Fr. Mark held his first Lord's Supper in Hebrew at St. Peter's Church in Jaffa. Fr. Mark served in the Jaffa community during the period of preparation for the priesthood for one year (2019-2020) and received the Ordination for the Priesthood on the feast of St. Peter (29.06) in Jerusalem from the hands of Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa.

The Jaffa community is happy for the privilege to be the first place where the new priest celebrated Eucharist in Hebrew. Apart from the community members, also the children from St. Anthony's Church, who are studying the catechism in Hebrew, came and prayed.

In his homily Fr. Apolinary spoke about the mission referring to: Mark 6:7: "(Jesus) called twelve and began to send them two by two and gave them authority (...)" The authority given by Jesus is reinforced by the spiritual help of friends and brothers. The priests and spiritual leaders of the people help and support each other on the way of the Messiah. We wish the young priest that God will give him much success in his new path, that his spirit will be satisfied in all his actions and that Christ will succeed in his holy mission.

We continued the joy after the Mass with a meal and refreshments brought by the members of the community.
