Animals, desert and us

Outgoing of Jerusalem Kehilla to the South on May 25-26, 2018. Benny reports

Last weekend 37 members of the Jerusalem Kehilla, aged 2 to 80+, went out for a trip, as a real family. Our destination was the South of the country, namely: the Negev desert.

We left the Community House at 3:30 pm and arrived to our place around evening: a beautiful farm with different kinds of animals and the possibility of spending the night in a huge tent in Bedouin style. Once there, we prepared dinner and afterwards we spent time together freely, and relaxed. The kids had a lot of fun becoming friends with the dogs and the horses present in the place, whereas the adults enjoyed the beauty of the landscape and the silence under a starry sky.

The day after, we visited the big crater of Mitzpe Ramon, an amazing experience of the beauty of creation, and from there we moved to the Alpacas farm, not far away. In the farm, after a short introduction, we had the possibility to wander around among lamas, alpacas, horses, donkeys, goats… an unforgettable experience, especially for those who were born and grew up in the city.

After lunch we continued our trip to the desert in the Yorkeam area, and there, despite the heat, we walked into the desert for about half an hour, until we found some pools of water in which our kids (and not only!) jumped and refreshed themselves.

The trip ended with a Mass celebrated at the Beer Sheba parish, in a great thanksgiving for the wonderful experience of unity and friendship in such a beautiful landscape.
