In Beer Sheba, a celebration to honor Father Paul

Father Paul Colin, parish priest in Beer Sheba, has served the community for 20 years already. Faithful servant in the vineyard of the Lord, he will hand over his responsibilities to Father Gioele at the beginning of January. On Saturday, December 17, members of the kehilla gathered in order to begin to say farewell to their pastor.

On Saturday, December 17, 2011, the members of the Beer Sheba kehilla celebrated Father Paul, who will be leaving his post in January. About 50 members of the kehilla, veterans and newcomers, came to thank Father Paul for his work and his faithful service in the kehilla over the past 20 years.

During the celebration that took place in the community house, many songs were sung and some members played songs of gratitude to God and songs for Christmas. Other members read letters in which they expressed their gratitude to Father Paul. All those present watched a presentation of photographs about the life of the kehilla with joy and curiosity, remembering the many friends who passed through the kehilla over the years.

In his words, Father Paul thanked one and all and noted that for him the kehilla is like a well in the desert, a place where the thirsty can come and drink of the spiritual waters there. The kehilla gave Father Paul some presents as a sign of the friendship that does not end. Everyone then went into the chapel for mass, after which there was a reception with which the celebration ended.

Father Paul is not leaving us immediately and he will be staying in Israel, thanks be to God.
