Commitment ceremony in the Haifa kehilla

Elena reports on the beautiful commitment ceremony that was held during mass on Saturday, November 19, 2011 in the Haifa kehilla.

There is no doubt that the weekend of the feast of Christ the King was very blessed for the Catholic Shalom Community together with the Haifa kehilla. As we previously shared, first we had the baptism of Silvia and on the eve of the same day, Viviani Santos Cerqueira, who has been participating in the life of the Haifa kehilla for a long time, made her first promises in the Covenant Community of Shalom. Another great joy! She consecrated herself to service of the Church in the Holy Land, a call she received from the Lord in order to live her baptism more fully.

In the Shalom Community, a New Community born 30 years ago in Brazil fruit of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, there are two ways, as two lungs to breath the same Charisma, to live a consecrated life: either the Life Community or the Covenant Community. For nine years Viviani lived as a member of the Life Community and arrived in Israel seven years ago as such. After a time of discernment and prayer she transferred to the Covenant Community. On the eve of the feast of Christ the King, Viviani made her first promises with great excitement and gratitude for God's faithfulness to her.

All brothers and sisters of the Community were present even those who live in Nazareth. The chapel of the kehilla was full of friends, Arabs and Jews, which made the celebration even more meaningful as we could pray and celebrate the Eucharist as one heart and one soul in the Lord. The presence of Father David Neuhaus and Magali from Jerusalem also gave a special tone to this event, celebrated in beauty and joy from God. The music was perfect and we sang a translated song called 'To Love You More' in Hebrew, Arabic and Portuguese. We hope that soon it will be sung in the other kehillot. Father Roman's words in the homily were also inspired and we thank him and all who contributed with their help in the translations, presence, prayers and preparation of this ceremony.

The only regret was the absence of Stella, our beloved Stella, who broke some ribs in a fall and is hospitalized. A couple of days before Saturday, Viviani visited her and received many kisses and blessings. When Stella returns we will share the many pictures we have and we will sing her this new song that was one of the first signs Viviani received that the Lord was calling her to a more intimate relationship with Him.

May Viviani be blessed and through her life may many others also listen to a new song that comes from the loving and living heart of Our Good God.
