Saint Rachel children get to know Saint Francis
During the Sukkot (Feast of Tabernacles) vacations, the Saint Rachel Center welcomes tens of children between the ages of 3 and 13 and proposes activities to them. This Sunday, the children paid a visit to the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land shortly after the Feast of Saint Francis, on October 4. They were able to enjoy an exhibition there that marks the 800th anniversary of the Franciscan presence in the Holy Land. The exhibition displays reproductions of the frescoes of Giotto, painted between 1290 and 1295, to be found in the great basilica dedicated to Saint Francis in Assisi, Italy.
Father Alberto, a Franciscan residing in Jerusalem and director of the Magnificat School of Music, welcomed the group and explaining the paintings, told the children in Hebrew the life of Saint Francis. Beginning with the paintings, he was able to explain the great relevance of this great saint for our lives today.
