The Jerusalem community also dresses up on Purim


 In Jerusalem, some of the members of the community dressed up after mass for Purim.

On Purim, the Jewish feast that commemorates the victory of Queen Esther and her cousin Mordechai, over the evil Haman who sought to destroy all the Jews in the kingdom (cf. the Book of Esther in the Old Testament), it is a tradition to dress up. In the Jerusalem community, on Sunday evening (February 28), the members of the community participated in the Sunday mass (the second Sunday of Lent) despite the stormy weather. After the prayer, some of the members dressed up… Father Apolinary put on a cassock of a traditional Polish priest instead of his usual jeans and other members of the congregation changed their habitual appearance too in order to participate in the spirit of the feast…
