Called to be salt and light in this special land
Visit of the Apostolic Nuncio to the Parish of St. Peter's in Tiberias
On Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th of September 2019, the parish community of St. Peter's in Tiberias and the Koinonia John the Baptist had the joy and honor of welcoming H. E. Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, the Apostolic Nuncio to Israel and Cyprus and the Apostolic Delegate to Jerusalem and Palestine.
The visit fell on the World Day of Migrants and Refugees which was an excellent occasion to celebrate the diversity and richness of this small but significant community on the shores of the Sea of Tiberias.
Archbishop Girelli, the Papal representative, warmly conveyed a message from Pope Francis of his closeness to and interest in the life of the Church in the Holy Land. The Archbishop encouraged the faithful to listen to sacred scripture as a way of life and to live as witnesses to the calling to be salt and light in this special land.
Both Eucharistic celebrations were followed by a fraternal gathering in the garden where there was time to share and build relationships.
