Time passed quickly and the children of Jaffa’s Kehilla became teenagers. A few years ago, these children received the body of Christ for the first time, and now, as they got older and better prepared, the time for confirmation has come. Our priests, especially Father Apolinary and Father Benedetto (as he was still a seminarian), spent years preparing the children for this important moment in their lives.

Father Rafic Nahra, Patriarchal Vicar for the Hebrew-speaking Catholics and for Migrants and Asylum Seekers in Israel, Father Apolinary parish priest in Jaffa, Father Benedetto, who was ordained priest only three weeks ago, and Father Gregor Pawlowski, celebrated the solemn mass.

In his homily, Father Rafic said to the Youth that today is not the end of the road - even if they have completed their preparation for confirmation - but a beginning: they start their path to adulthood as Christians. The entire community shared the emotions of the Youth, especially the parents and the godparents, while they held candles that illuminated their excited faces.

After the mass, the community gathered in the churchyard and celebrated the event with many members of the youth group, who had arrived for a weekend with Father Apolinary, and stayed for the confirmation. It was full of joy. We thank the Lord for that day, we also thank our priests for their investment. We hope we will manage, with God's help, to raise a new generation of Israeli Christians in the Holy Land.
