Sisters of Sion renew vows at Pentecost vigil

On June 7, 2014, at a Pentecost vigil mass, the Sisters of Sion in the Holy Land renewed their vows.

The Sisters of Sion who reside in different communities in the Jerusalem area gathered at their beautiful convent Ein Karem in order to renew their vows. The Sisters celebrated together a magnificent Pentecost vigil, giving time to the Liturgy of the Word. The different readings were read at different languages in a variety of languages (English, Portuguese, Spanish, Arabic and French). After each reading, the congregation was invited to break up into pairs and reflect on the reading together. The grounds of the convent were a beautiful setting to reflect on the Tower of Babel, the covenant at Sinai and the end of days’ promise of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.

The Liturgy of the Eucharist was preceded by the actual renewal of vows in Hebrew, French and English. The mass was accompanied by the music of the Brothers of Sion, led by Tiago. The offertory was introduced by a magnificent liturgical dance by one of the novices, who evoked the tongues of fire of the Holy Spirit.

The celebrant of the mass was Father David Neuhaus. The mass was followed by a delicious meal.
