Russian speakers commemorate All Souls

Father Wieslaw, responsible for the Russian speaking Catholics in south and central Israel, reports on the prayers for the departed faithful in the Russian speaking kehilla.

November is a month of prayers for our departed brothers and sisters. In the first octave of November we gathered to pray in one of the civil cemeteries. We visited tombs of our relatives and friends, visiting the non-Jewish part of the cemetery. For the intentions of our deceased brothers and sisters in purgatory and for the intention of the Holy Father we prayed the Rosary.

The cemetery is a sacred place, where we worship God, Giver of life and death, Our Alpha and Omega. Thanks to Christ, death has lost its sting… Death with Christ is Easter!

“Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto myself; that where I am, ye may be also. And whither I go, ye know the way” (John 14:1-4).
