Prayer for Pentecost in the Vicariate

About 35 people gathered after mass on Thursday, June 9, 2011, in order to prepare together for the feast of Pentecost, taking time for prayer, praise, petition and silence.

In these days, the Christian world is preparing itself for the feast of the gift of the Holy Spirit, fifty days after Easter, the feast of Jesus’ resurrection from amongst the dead. Members of the Jerusalem kehilla, together with their friends, gathered in the chapel of the Vicariate residence in order to ask God for the gift of His Spirit to the members of His community on earth. The initiative for the prayer came from Benedetto, Lucia and Eliane, who explained at the beginning of the evening that they preferred not to over-plan the evening, allowing the Spirit to act and the Spirit did indeed act.

The participants spent nearly two hours in prayer and song, accompanied by Benedetto’s guitar. Prayers and petitions were heard over and over: pour out Your Spirit on us, remove the obstacles to the Spirit working in us… And we continue to prayer that we will be ready at the time of the feast to open up and receive the gift that God wants to give us.
