Priests' meeting – May 27, 2011


The priests of the Saint James Vicariate for Hebrew speaking Catholics in Israel met today, Friday, May 27, 2011, at Latroun.

Present at the meeting were seven priests, including the priests responsible for the communities in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv - Jaffa, Haifa, Beer Sheva, and one of the priests working with the Russian-speaking communities.

The meeting began with praying the "Our Father". This was followed by news from the different communities including reports on the Holy week and Easter liturgies.

The main subjects of the meeting were:
- The weekend for families held in Tiberius in April
- An evaluation of the Easter Sunday celebration when all came together
- The continuing catechetical work with the Filipino children in Tel Aviv and the upcoming celebration of first communion.
- The upcoming prayer at the Latin Patriarchate on the Vigil of Pentecost.
- Preparations for the summer camp for children.
- Preparation for the World Youth Day in Madrid in 2011
- The retreat for the priests of the Vicariate in September.

A prolonged period of time was consecrated to a discussion of the functioning of the Vicariate over the past year.

The meeting ended with a toast to Father Wieslaw, who celebrates 25 years since his ordination as a priest on June 18.
