F. Michel Remaud: Awarded Jewish-Christian Friendship prize


The Jewish-Christian Friendship in France announced that Father Michel Remaud, Director of the Institute for Jewish Studies and Hebrew Literature is the laureate of the organization's prize for 2010.

michel_remaudThe Jewish Christian Friendship in France awards a prize each year to a Jew or a Christian who has contributed to the deepening of relations between Jews and Christians. It will be remembered that the 2002 was awarded to Father Jean-Baptiste Gourion, Vicar for the Hebrew Speaking Catholic communities in Israel and Abbot of the Benedictine monastery in Abu Ghosh.

Michel Remaud was born in France in 1940 and is a religious in the congregation of the Sons of Mary Immaculate. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1966 and arrived in Israel in 1985. He taught for many years at the Ratisbonne Institute for Jewish Studies until its closure in 2001, when he founded the Institute he directs today. Father Michel has written many books and articles on Judaism, Christianity and the relationship between them. He is very active in our communities since his arrival in Israel and is faithful member of the Jerusalem kehilla.
