Jerusalem kehilla celebrates Feast of Ascension

On Thursday, May 9, 2013, about 30 members of the Jerusalem kehilla ascended the Mount of Olives when it was still dark in order to celebrate a mass on the feast of Jesus' ascension into heaven.

At 5.00 in the morning Father Piotr, responsible for the Jerusalem kehilla, celebrated the festive mass on the occasion of the feast and alongside him were the other three priests from the Vicariate community, Father David, Father Nicola and Father Johannes. The members of the kehilla as well as friends invited for this special occasion crowded into the small chapel on the summit of the Mount of Olives. In the 30 minutes granted each group, the members of the kehilla were able to pray at this unique spot, remembering the fortieth day after Easter when Jesus ascended into heaven before his disciples.

At the end of the prayer, the members of the group made their way on foot to the panoramic view on the Mount of Olives and there they were able to pray, talk together and enjoy the magnificent view. They gathered together again to sing "Regina coeli" and then were invited by Father Piotr to have breakfast together in a nearby hotel, thanks to the generous contribution of a benefactor.
