Beer Sheba kehilla: From Father Paul to Father Gioele

In the Beer Sheba kehilla, a big change is taking place in these days. Father Paul, beloved parish priest, who has been serving in Beer Sheba for twenty years, is handing over the parish to his successor, Father Gioele.

Father Paul Collin, born in France, arrived in Israel in 1989 after many years of service in the Chaldean Church in Iran. He first served in the kehilla in Jaffa and in April 1991, he transferred to Beer Sheba where he was responsible for the parish until these days. On January 1, he transferred responsibility for the parish to Father Gioele, who has lived with him and helped in the parish since the end of 2009. Father Paul will move to live in Jerusalem and we wish him well in this transfer and we are sure that he will continue to contribute to the development and growth of the kehillot for many years to come.

Father Giole Salvaterra, native on North Italy, is a priest in the diocese of Bolzano-Bressanone in North Italy (a bilingual region where both Italian and German are spoken). He came to Israel when still a seminarian. He studied Hebrew and came to know our kehillot and since then requested to come to Israel. After a few years of pastoral work in the diocese, the bishop agreed to send him to us and we are grateful for this gift.

We wish Father Gioele and the Beer Sheba community every success and we are praying with them and for them.
