Easter Camp 2023

As during every Passover holiday, this year also there was a children camp. The camp was held in Deir Rafat for three days (10-12 April).

Danielle reports:

It was a mixed camp and included children and youth from the age of 6 and up. Some of the young people were guides for the first time in the groups of the younger children and those adults who were previously in the youth group this time were part of the leading team.

The theme of the camp was The Saints, during the morning the children were divided into two groups (according to their ages) and each group attended the lesson and learned about a different saint - the lesson was given by different lecturers, some only came to teach, and some were instructors at the camp. After the lesson and a short break, we were divided into 4 groups, the groups moved between different classes, each class being about half an hour - music/science/theatre/art. After the classes, the children enjoyed a delicious lunch prepared for us by Raba, the camp's famous cook!

At the end of the lunch break (which was mainly necessary for the instructors...) the children went downstairs for a joint activity of various games and activities. After that there was free time followed by prayer time - during this time there was also the possibility of confessions, and it was amazing to see the tiny children taking part in it!

After the prayer there were showers, dinner and a movie. The youth group got extra time after the movie for free time while the little ones went to bed.

On the first day and on the last day there was a mass - the beginning mass was conducted by Fr. Piotr and the closing mass by Fr. Tiago.

The atmosphere at the camp was very good - it was so lovely to see the young people who until recently were small children taking an active part this time and guiding those younger than them and in such a good way!

A large part of the group of young people were also in the logistics team - the team without which there would be no camp - or at least not such a successful camp. At this camp they even worked harder because the nuns couldn't be with us due to Easter, so the logistics team got double work and did it really great!

Another thing that was special about the camp was that the leading team grew and now it also includes the young instructors who are now in the army - it was exciting to see them as part of us and that they are also partners in the entire construction of the camp!

A big thank-you to everyone who participated in the preparations, activities and organization, thanks to all the instructors who came throughout the summer camp and also to those who were part of only a few hours and certain activities and of course - thanks to all the children and young people who participated!

It was an amazing and fun camp!

And now.... they are starting to prepare for the summer camps!

Huge greetings to Kirche in Not (Aid For Church in Need) that helped to finance this project.
