Second day in Madrid

Our young people have sent a report on their second day in Madrid.

First night in Madrid. It was a little difficult to transfer from the beds in the monastery to sleeping bags in a school but in the end we managed. We got up at around 9.30 and we began to get organized for a new day. When we were ready, we went off to search for a place to have breakfast. We found a nice, quiet coffee shop and we fell upon it as we were very hungry. We ate breakfast and returned to the school for morning prayer. Benny taught us some new songs and it was a good and moving prayer time.

After the prayer, we went off to go around town and on the way Benny and Father Apolinary looked for stick on which we could attach the Israeli flags. After we found them (we now have five flags), we went to a famous square where they used to burn heretics and witches. As soon as we arrived with our flags, tens of people from different countries rushed up to us and wanted a picture with us. After a short visit in the square, we went to eat lunch and had some free time.

During the free time, we were able to be photographed with young people from different countries (even with young people from Lebanon, who were overjoyed to meet us). After about an hour, we made our way to the Basilica of Saint Francis in order to participate in the meeting of the heads of the Franciscans from all over the world. There we met up with the "Riquinios", the students who had hosted us in Santiago. In the meeting, each religious superior gave a short talk on a subject connected to the Franciscan charism and we sang songs. The head of the Friars Minor, the order of Father Apolinary) even came to be photographed with the Israeli flag and with us and spoke to us a little.

At the conclusion of the meeting with the Franciscans, we went to a Burger Ranch to have dinner with the "Riquinios". Despite the long line and the heat, it was an enjoyable meal. At the end of the meal, we went to a concert organized by the Franciscans of Spain. In the concert, there was singing, a magicians' show and other activities. After a few hours and hundreds of photos with people from all over the world we returned to the school where we are sleeping and thus ended our second day in Spain… until next time.
