Children Camp of Easter 2019 at Beit Jemal

A new kind of camp, for the children aged 12 to 16. Habib, from Be'er Sheva, reports

This year, the Easter Camp was held on April 21-24, and the theme was the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This camp was different from our previous camps, because it was meant for children aged 12 to 16, so the activities were different.

Instead of receiving the food from the adults, while sitting at table, each child had to take a tray, serve himself, go and sit wherever he wanted throughout the lot. After lunch, he had to wash his dishes and put them to dry.

Instead of the usual Catechism lesson that usually lasted close to one hour, the children watched a play prepared and dramatized by some of the instructors. Based on the play, each group discussed some questions about faith in Jesus, and how to live our faith in society and in everyday life. At the end, each group had to present the fruit of the discussion in an active way (play, dance, etc.).

In the afternoon, instead of the regular activities, there were new ones: On Monday the children went out for activities outside the monastery, which included solving puzzles written as a code. On Tuesday, they prepared decorations, dances, and sandwiches for the party that was planned for the evening, a party that the children enjoyed.

This camp was a great fun for all of us, and we’re looking forward to the next time we meet!
