Views and news from Taizé

Our youth continue the week of prayer in Taizé and sent us some of their impressions.

"On Wednesday, during the morning prayer, the monks from the Taizé monastery asked us to read one of the psalms in Hebrew. In the community prayer there will also be a reading in Hebrew. We are very moved. Many of the youth from all over the world are very curious and want to get to know us. Wonderful bonds of friendship are being created."

" Three days at Taizé and we already sense the atmosphere: work, the group and our international friends, and especially the prayers – three times a day – and this has penetrated our hearts – prayers that calm our spirits."

"It is already three days that we are here in Taizé. We have all gotten to know new people from interesting places, we have all been cleaning, cooking, praying, talking, singing, laughing… Everybody is really enthusiastic that we are Hebrew speaking Christians from Israel and even the psalm at mass today was read in Hebrew. This is a very special place. The people are different from one another but united in Christ. We have different views but one God. I think that this is an amazing and unique place".

"Hi, it is me… Matti. The food is amazing, the atmosphere pleasant, the people very nice and it is fun. However, aside from all that, I prefer the times of silent prayer because it calms the soul. I must point out that the lessons are boring me and the monk digs too deep. Yet, everything here is great and I do not miss home and I hope you do not miss me. So, love from Taizé with a European hug from me."

"Everything here is really great. The silent prayer of Taizé is the best part of it all and it is fun to be here… the place is amazing, green panoramas and in the depth of the villages there is tranquility that is difficult to find in Israel. The lessons are not really interesting as we learnt this stuff in grade 1 and to repeat it now is not fascinating."

"The people are really nice and the advantage of the lessons is not really their content but getting to know the people and the fact that they are really interested that we are from Israel. It is fun to speak with them and to tell them about our country : )".
