Mount Zion award to two dialogue activists


On Sunday, October 27, 2013, two women dedicated to Jewish-Christian relations in Israel received the Mount Zion award.

The two women who have dedicated their lives and energies to the advancement of relations between Jews and Christians in Israel are Yisca Harani and Margaret Karam.

Yisca Harani, born in 1961, was born into a traditional Jewish family. She is a well known educator, teaching courses in Christianity to Jews in many different frameworks and serving as a trusted advisor to various Israeli ministries on Christian affairs.

Margaret Karam, born in 1962, was born into a Catholic Palestinian family in Haifa. She is a member of the Focolari movement. She studied Jewish studies at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles. She serves on the board of different institutes for Jewish Christian relations and is a member of the commission for relations with the Jewish people of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land.

The prize is awarded every two years at Dormition Abbey on Mount Zion.
