President Rivlin hosts heads of Churches

In his traditional welcome to the heads of the Churches in Israel, President Rivlin spoke about his meeting with Pope Francis in the Vatican. He praised the Pope for declaring that no Christian can be an anti-Semite. The President then added: “and no one who truly practices the Jewish faith can be anti-Christian or anti-Muslim”.

In his traditional response, Greek Orthodox Patriarch Theophilos III, thanked the President for his courageous stand on the defense of democracy, equality and mutual respect.
