Growing together

This year, besides the regular summer camps for the children of our communities, the Vicariate of St. James held a special camp for our youth aged 12 - 16. Five days, dedicated exclusively to them, allowed the youth of our communities to strengthen their relations with one another, to create new and bold friendships with each other – across cities, ethnicities, and cultures – and, of course, with Jesus. During the camp, we, coordinators, guides and youth alike, felt our growth together, as one people of God. This was also the theme of the camp – “growing together”.

The camp included a lot of games, lessons, discussions, prayers, masses and other activities. Besides the obvious enjoyment, all the activities aimed to instill in our youth the deep understanding that Christ calls us, his disciples, to grow together in his body – the church. At the end of the camp, after a mass celebrated by Fr. Rafic, our vicar, we thanked the Lord for this week of grace, and returned home, preparing to start the school year.
