Patriarch Sabbah's farewell

The Lain Patriarch of Jerusalem, Michel Sabbah, who turns 75 on March 19, has published a final pastoral letter.

He will soon be replaced by his successor, Msgr. Fouad Twal. Patriarch Sabbah was not only the first Palestinian to be appointed Patriarch but was also the first Patriarch who spoke Hebrew. It was in Hebrew that he ordained the first Bishop for the Hebrew-speaking Catholic community in 2003. Patriarch Sabbah has served the Church of Jerusalem as Patriarch since 1988. Our prayers accompany him as he prepares for a new period in his life of service of the Church. Patriarch Sabbah’s last pastoral letter is available at the Latin Patriarchate site. Read. View a short video in Italian on the Patriarch (in which our Vicar, Father Pierbattista, also gives his testimony).
