Lenten Walk from Latrun to Jerusalem
This journey is traditionally held by the communities during this period, organized and led by Fr. Apollinary from the Jaffa community, in solidarity with the path Jesus walked in the days leading up to His crucifixion. The number of kilometers walked uphill from Latrun to Jerusalem corresponds to the number of days in the Lenten period.
Along the way, the group marks fourteen stations of prayer and reflection, aligned with the fourteen events described in the Gospel and tradition—from the trial of the Lord to His crucifixion.
At each station, the group gathers, pauses the walk, stands together, and reflects on a specific aspect of the Passion of Christ. Each person, in turn, thinks about how they can draw personal lessons from Jesus’ actions for their own life, and then shares their reflection with the group.
This year, 22 people participated in the pilgrimage, which naturally required planning and organizational effort.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Fr. Apollinary, to Fr. Roman who joined us and helped keep the group united, and of course to dear Batya from the Jaffa community, who lovingly prepared and sent homemade food for the group.
May God reward us all.
