Anniversary of 9 Years of Interreligious Beit Midrash

On Wednesday (March 15th), at the Synagogue Moreshet Avraham in Jerusalem, an anniversary evening of the first nine years of Beit Midrash was held.

Fr. Benny reports:

Almost a decade has passed since our friends from the Kehilat Zion came to visit us in the Jerusalem Kehilah and asked us to study Torah together. Since then, after so many years, we have reached the end of the Torah passages from Genesis to Deuteronomy. During these years, our representatives (Fr. David, Fr. Rafik, Fr. Piotr) and pastors of the Jerusalem community (Fr. Rafik, Fr. Roman, Fr. Benny) changed, but the activity continued, and every month we met and learned Jews and Christians in an increasingly intimate and warm atmosphere.

The event of March 15th was supposed to mark and celebrate a unique project, especially in a city like Jerusalem, and to thank God for such a great blessing. Today we have a Jewish community (Zion) and a Catholic community (Jerusalem) that became sister communities, the hearts grew closer and closer, and a circle was created that would be open to other communities that would like to join us and continue learning.

All the leaders of the Beit Midrash of the past spoke at the ceremony, including two messages from abroad: Fr. David Neuhaus from South Africa and Deborah Greenberg who was on a trip to Vietnam. The main part was the fellowship study and the two lectures by Bishop Rafik and Rabbi Tamar Elad Applebaum. Between the speeches the audience joined the singer Hadas and fr. Benny who prepared the music.
