Secretariat of State Publishes Full "Jews" Series of Historical Archive Online
By Vatican News
The "Jews" archival series of the Historical Archive of the Secretariat of State—Section for Relations with States and International Organizations (ASRS)—is now fully available for consultation on the internet (HERE).
The series consists of 170 volumes containing requests for help addressed to Pope Pius XII by Jews, both baptized Catholics and many who were not, from all over Europe, after the beginning of the persecutions by fascist governments in the 1930s and 1940s.
Around 70% of the documentation had been made freely accessible on the internet on 23 June 2022.
Now, the virtual reproduction of the series has been completed, allowing for full online consultation of the digitized documents.
The series has been amplified with the publication of a second, expanded edition of the analytical inventory.
The additional material shows the names of all the aid applicants found in the over-2,500 files that make up the series.
