Sukkot in Beer Sheva
Like every year, a meeting of the members of the Interfaith Initiative in the Negev took place in the Eshel Avraham Synagogue. Fr. Roman participated in this celebration for the first time together with Sophia, the volunteer from Poland. During the meeting the participants talked about the meaning of the "dialogue" in different religions. Before the celebration, Fr. Roman was happy to discuss this topic with Sophia who gave him many interesting ideas which he later brought to the discussion in the sukkah. Sophia is a member of a popular movement called Focolare of which the purpose is to encourage dialogue and unity between different people, societies and also religions. The meeting in the sukkah and the conversation took place in a good atmosphere even though the participants also touched some sensitive and difficult topics. At the meeting, it was announced for the first time that the Interfaith Initiative in the Negev received an award for its work. The prize will be awarded on November 8th at the Center for the Study of Religions at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Together with the Interfaith Initiative in the Negev, Ms. Yiska Harani and Br. Olivier from the Benedictine Monastery at Abu Gush will receive it. Everyone is invited to Be'er Sheva for the award ceremony.
