On Tuesday, November 18, 2008, the Assembly of Ordinaries of the Holy Land (an assembly that includes all the Catholic bishops from Israel, the Palestinian Autonomy and Jordan) organized a Eucharistic celebration to honor Saint Paul on the two thousandth anniversary of his birth. The mass was held in the Basilica of Saint Stephen, in the compound of the Dominican Fathers in Jerusalem. It should be pointed out that the Pope proclaimed this year a Year of Saint Paul.

The weekend of June 21-22, 2008 marks an important transition for the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem. After twenty years of service, H.B. Patriarch Michel Sabbah retires and is succeeded by Mgr. Fouad Twal as the new Patriarch of Jerusalem.
