The priests of the Hebrew speaking Catholic Vicariate in Israel met today, February 20, 2009, in Latroun, renewing the once every two month rhythm for their pastoral meetings.

Father Michel de Goedt OCD, passed away in Lille, France on February 3, 2009 and was buried on February 9. He was 84 years old and suffered from cancer. He is remembered fondly in Israel, especially by the members of the kehillot.

The internet site of the Hebrew Speaking Catholic Vicariate in Israel began in December 2007 and has received over 30 000 visits. This is not an extravagant number but contact has been established with a much wider world.

On Saturday, December 27, 2008, Roman Kaminski of the Hebrew-speaking Vicariate in Israel of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem was ordained deacon alongside a Franciscan, Fra Alessandro Coniglio ofm.

On Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 15.30 in Saint Savior's Church in the Old City of Jerusalem (New Gate), Roman Kaminsky will be ordained a deacon. Roman invites all members of our communities and all friends and sends his best wishes for a blessed Christmas with a poem he wrote.

His Beatitude Mgr. Fouad Twal, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, published his greetings to the Hebrew speaking Vicariate in Israel in the Vicariate's newsletter, Kol Rina. We publish the greetings here on our site too.

On Saturday, September 27, at the end of their annual retreat, the priests of the Hebrew speaking Vicariate led by their Vicar, Father Pierbattista Pizzaballa OFM, met with the Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Mgr. Fouad Twal.

Each year the priests of the Hebrew speaking Vicariate in Israel spend a few days in retreat together. This is a time for prayer, sharing and fellowship. This year too nine of the priests spent four days together.
