We remember with gratitude Saint Pope John Paul II. Especially, we remember his contributions to dialogue with the Jewish people, his constant search for peace and justice and his visit to Israel and the Holy Land in 2000. Here we can watch him and hear him recite the Our Father in Latin.

The official anthem for the Pope’s visit was produced by a group of Holy Land musicians. The lyrics were written by Rabab Zaitoun and the music was composed by Luai Zaher and Rabab Zaitoun.

L. and S. from the Haifa community sent us a beautiful hymn in honor of Mary, mother of Jesus from the Russian tradition, in Slavonic. The hymn, originally from the Byzantine liturgy in Greek, is accompanied here with images of Mary from the West and from the East.

Benny, seminarian in the Vicariate community, sent us a beautiful rendition of Psalm 23 in Tagalog to help us continue to pray for our Filipino brothers and sisters in the areas hit by Typhoon Yolanda.

This devotional song is comprised of traditional Arabic prayers together with the Hebrew words of Psalm 147:12-13, exhorting Jerusalem to praise God. It is performed by Muhammad Al-Hussaini with Geoffrey Ahn and Paul Sims.

Jeoffrey Benward and Jeff Silvey wrote the words to this song, performed in the Easter celebration of a congregation of the Assemblies of God in the United States.

V. from the Haifa community has prayed for many years the traditional Catholic prayer, "Anima Christi" - "Soul of Christ" - and he proposes it to us as a prayer for this time and all times.

The last psalm of the Book of Psalms is a final and eschatological song of praise. The musicians and dancers of the Temple lead all of creation – every breathing being – in a splendid and all-encompassing song of hallelu-jah (Praise Yah). The psalm has inspired generations of composers and singers and we have gathered a few of these compositions from a variety of traditions.

The New Testament hymn "Ave Maria" has been rendered in many different musical versions. It is a prayer to honor the Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus. "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, prayer for us sinners, now and in the hour of our death. Amen".
