Advent Season – Year III
Sunday – First Week

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Habitually, we think that the Advent season is a time during which we have to do the same things we do during Lent, to fast and to repent. However, Advent does not have the same significance as Lent. In Advent, we are waiting for someone and when we wait for someone, we indeed want to receive him who is due to arrive in a suitable way. Thus, we need to have a strong desire that he might arrive and that he arrives quickly. If we have no such strong desire and we expect nothing at all then we might even have lost all hope.

What do we need to do in this Advent season? We must awaken the desire in our hearts that the person we are awaiting might indeed come! We must know that first and foremost, this person is waiting for us and not only in the Advent season but every moment of our lives. What does this person expect of us? The expectation of us is that we will have a burning desire that he comes…

In this Advent season let us do whatever we can to awaken, strengthen and cultivate the desire that he comes and that he comes quickly…
