Feast of Saint Patrick – March 17


Saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland and one of the most beloved saints in the English speaking world. The Church celebrates his feast on March 17.

 

patrick_irelandWe do not know exactly when Patrick lived but he was born in the middle of the fourth century and arrived in Ireland in about 428. Patrick brought Christianity to Ireland, which became one of the most important Catholic countries. According to tradition, Patrick expelled snakes (symbol of Satan) from Ireland.
