Trip of the Jerusalem Kehilla

Father Piotr, responsible for the Jerusalem kehilla, reports on the trip of the kehilla that took place on Friday, May 30 and Saturday, May 31, 2014.

On Friday and Saturday twenty three members of Jerusalem Kehilla (with nine kids in addition) went to the northern part of Israel. After visiting the Nature Reserve of the Hula Valley (with its amazing 4D movie and educational presentation), we shared a picnic lunch. Later we arrived at Mount Tabor, where a few younger and stronger participants decided to climb the mountain, meanwhile all the others came up with the mini-buses. After Mass in the Basilica of Transfiguration, we had a great dinner prepared by the members of the community “Mondo-X”: real Italian pasta and turkey from the home farm.

On Saturday, after morning prayer, we went to Rosh HaNiqra. This National Park, at the border with Lebanon, is famous for its spectacular meeting point of the sea and the rock. Two hours of free time in Acre was dedicated to lunch and visiting the Old City, however some found their way to the sea for a swim. Mass in the Carmelite Monastery of the Muhraqa and a guided visit in this amazing place dedicated to Elijah the Prophet was the last point of the program.

Many thanks to Fr. Bernard (OFM), Community “Mondo-X”, Fr. Paco (OCarm), Charbel and all who helped to prepare the trip (especially Cecile and Martine), as well as to Benny for his liturgical help.
