The Story of Jesus – new book for children

In collaboration with the Israel Association for Multiple Sclerosis, the Saint James Vicariate for Hebrew Speaking Catholics in Israel is happy to announce the publication of a new children’s book, “The Story of Jesus” in Hebrew.

The book, written by Aia Laser, illustrated by Albert Hanan Kaminski (of Sesame Street fame), with photographs of Amiram Jablonovsky, was first published in English in 2005. Father David Neuhaus, Latin Patriarchal Vicar, advised the translators of the book to introduce some changes in the text so that the story conformed a little more to the Gospel account. The translators Janine Vosburgh and Aia Melamad have done an excellent job rendering the text in Hebrew.

The magnificent volume is composed of a beautiful text, written in poetic style that tells the story of the life of Jesus from the annunciation in Nazareth until the Ascension into heaven. Each page is illustrated with striking animation mounted upon photographs of the Holy Places.

This book joins the five other books for children already published by the Saint James Vicariate: “Get to Know Jesus”, “Get to Know the Church”, “Get to Know the Feasts and Seasons of the Church”, “Get to Know the Mass” and “Get to Know the History of Salvation”.

We are grateful to the Israel Association for Multiple Sclerosis and particularly Ms. Janine Vosburgh, who promoted this project with great energy and vision. Again, we are grateful to the John Paul II Foundation in Italy, whose generosity made the publication possible.
