Pope Paul VI to be beatified
On May 10, 2014, Pope Francis approved the beatification of his predecessor Pope Paul VI. The approval was announced Saturday.
The beatification ceremony is scheduled to take place October 19, 2014, at the conclusion of the 3rd Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the family.
The announcement comes two weeks before the Pope is due to arrive in the Holy Land for a pilgrimage that commemorates the pilgrimage of Pope Paul VI in 1964.
