Benedictines invite Israelis in Poland

Father Maciej Pawlik OSB, a Polish Benedictine, sent us this report about a new initiative in Poland.

tyniec

The Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec (Cracow – Poland) opens its doors for Hebrew-speaking visitors, creating the possibility to visit the place in Hebrew. Relations between Israel and Poland are extraordinary due to an important common heritage. Also today mutual exchange can be seen between the two nations. That is why we decided to invite Israelis, visiting Poland, to see Tyniec, the amazing place with a 1000-year tradition. Benedictine monasteries have always been places of meeting. This idea inspires us and refering to it we would be glad to host Hebrew-speaking visitors who want to see something beyond the regular itinerary. The Abbey, situated on a hill, on the right bank of the river, is one of the most picturesque places in Poland. Believing in the strength of hospitality, we are determined to seek ways of dialogue and respect. Here you can find more information about our initiative:

I must explain that the visit to the Kehilla in Jerusalem was one of the most crucial factors in motivating me to organize this sightseeing in Hebrew. I was in Jerusalem last summer to learn Hebrew and to examine the deeply Semitic roots of Christianity. After my return, I thought that the experience I acquired being in Israel should be used in Poland to promote universal values of mutual understanding and respect. I hope it will bring the desired results! With God’s help...
