On Friday, January 24 and Saturday, January 25, the post-confirmation group of teenagers from the Divine Mercy Chapel in Tel Aviv spent a weekend together in Haifa, in order to get to know the local Christian community in all its diversity.

They left Tel Aviv accompanied by Claudia and in Haifa they were guests of Father Roman and the Hebrew speaking kehilla of Haifa. The first stop was the Arabic language parish, where Father Abdo welcomed the group with some bourekas and explained shortly who the Carmelites are. Immediately after that, Therese of the Focolare movement, came to accompany the group to the Focolare residence, where the 4 consecrated women of the community, shared some time with the teenagers, playing and explaining their vocation of reaching out to all people through small acts of love. Together, we walked back to the parish to pray with all Haifa Christian communities at the ecumenical prayer for the Week of Christian Unity. At the end of the day, Father Roman, Stella and Eran accompanied the group to the Hebrew speaking parish, where a movie was waiting for them.

On Saturday, the group started the day with a Mass together with the sister and the workers of the Saint Vincent home for children with special needs. Sister Catherine from the Daughter of Charity, who direct the home, led the teenagers through their centre and explained the work they do every day. Then there was time for the group to learn the meaning of charity in a practical way: they spent all the morning playing, walking around and talking with the residents of the Saint Vincent home. At the end of the morning, Ahmed and Omri, two of the residents, were already part of the DMC group and asked Sister Catherine if they could go to live in Tel Aviv.

After nourishing the heart, the group went to nourish their mind at Madatech, the science and technology museum, where they learnt while having fun.

The day ended once again at the Hebrew speaking parish where Father Roman explained the history of the community and where they had the chance to meet some of its members before saying goodbye to Haifa.
