South Tel Aviv Hannuka day camp

On Thursday, December 5, 2013, 64 children from the Filipino community in south Tel Aviv participated in a day long camp on the last day of their Hannuka school holiday in order to prepare for Christmas.

It was a rainy, cold day in south Tel Aviv as they began to arrive at the Divine Mercy Pastoral Center. The day began with morning prayer animated by Father Piotr. Then the children were divided into three groups and each group participated in three activities, each one in turn. Father David taught a lesson on Christmas, the story and the liturgical time in the Church. Claudia prepared with the children an art project in the Christmas spirit. Kirill animated games that kept the children on their feet.

After a short break, activities resumed with a music lesson given by Father Rafic. Father David then celebrated mass, a time to draw the children into the liturgical celebration.

After lunch, the children watched a movie and then some went home while others lingered, waiting for their parents who came after work.

Thank you to the animators of the day camp as well as to Father Roch and the Sisters at the Divine Mercy Pastoral Center, Sisters Rebecca, Regina and Aurelia as well as Sisters Clarice and Dinesha. Special thanks to Ms. Bhea who took care of all the logistics and prepared the delicious food.
