New Patriarchal Vicar in Cyprus

On September 6, 2013, the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem published the news that the Latin Patriarch Fouad Twal had named a new Vicar for Cyprus.

The new Vicar is Father Jerzy Kraj OFM and he succeeds Father Garret Edmonds OFM in this position.

Father Kraj was born in 1960 in Poland and entered the Franciscan Order in 1979. He was ordained a priesy in Jerusalem in 1986. He specialized in moral theology, receiving his doctorate from the Alphonsium in Rome in 1998. He served in various positions of Franciscan leadership before being appointed Vicar in Cyprus.

The Latin Church in Cyprus is comprised of about 1700 Cypriots and between 6 to 7 thousand migrant workers (mostly Filipino, Indian, Sri Lankan and African).

We wish Father Kraj God’s blessing on his new mission.
