Pope Francis sends message for end of Ramadan


Thursday, August 8, 2013, marks the end of Ramadan, known in Arabic as Id al-Fitr. Pope Francis sent a message to Muslims as is customary at this time each year.

In his message to Muslims worldwide, Pope Francis greeted them on the occasion of Id al-Fitr. In his message, he outlined the theme for shared reflection: “promoting mutual respect through education”.

Referring to his choice of the name Francis, he also said: “I chose the name of “Francis”, a very famous saint who loved God and every human being deeply, to the point of being called “universal brother”.
