The Ordinaries sent letters to Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi David Lau and Sephardi Chief Rabbi, Rishon LeZiyyon, Yitshaq Yosef. The text of the message is published here:

The members of the Assembly of Catholic Ordinaries in the Holy Land congratulate you, most honorable Chief Rabbi of Israel, on the occasion of your election to this respected office. We wish you fruitful and blessed work.

Our hope is that we might be able to work together in order to deepen the dialogue between Jews and Christians in this land, so dear to all believers. We must work together as spiritual leaders in order to promote justice and peace in our area and to fight against the exploitation of our religions by fanatics and people motivated by evil.

We look forward to meeting you in order to get to know you and present ourselves to you.

May the Lord bless you and may our land know peace and wellbeing.

“Let me hear what God the Lord will speak, for he will speak peace to his people” (Psalm 85:9).

The letter was signed by all the Catholic Ordinaries.
