Last class for children in Tel Aviv for this year

On Saturday, May 11, 2013, the religion classes at the Divine Mercy Pastoral Center in south Tel Aviv came to an end. This year, more than 70 children came to religion classes and prepared to receive the sacraments.

This is the third year that the Saint James Vicariate for Hebrew speaking Catholics in Israel collaborates with the Filipino Chaplaincy in Israel in south Tel Aviv. In this area today there are thousands of migrant workers and asylum seekers and their children are integrated into the Hebrew language, Jewish schools there.

This year participation in the religion classes reached a peak: more than 70 children attended the classes that took place once every two weeks, on Saturday afternoons. The children came to the center for one hour of class and then attended the Sunday liturgy in Hebrew.

The children were divided into three levels:

- the beginners who prepared to receive first communion with Benny and Jose Enrique;

- the intermediate (those children who received first communion last year) who continued their formation with Kirill and Claudia on the history of salvation;

- the children who were prepared for confirmation by Father David, assisted by Father Roch and Lerma.

The fruits of this year's efforts are impressive: 25 children will receive confirmation on Pentecost and 15 children will receive first communion on Trinity Sunday.

Thank you to the teachers, the wonderful team at Divine Mercy and especially to Ms. Bhea without whose persistent coordination we could not have fulfilled the mission.
