Appendix to "Get to Know the Mass"

The Saint James Vicariate has published an appendix top the book "Get to Know the Mass" for Hebrew speaking Maronite children.

The appendix to the book "Get to Know the Mass" is destined for children from the Maronite community integrated in Israeli Hebrew language schools. These children, who live today in northern Israel, are in need of educational material about the faith in the language of their studies – Hebrew. The cooperation between the Saint James Vicariate for Hebrew Speaking Catholics in Israel and the Maronite community in Israel for the benefit of the Hebrew speaking Maronite children is expressed not only in this appendix but also in the yearly children's summer camps and in the friendships that are woven among the Hebrew speaking, Catholic children from all backgrounds and those that work with them.

This appendix is needed by the Maronite children and especially their religion teachers who use the book of the Saint James Vicariate, "Get to Know the Mass". The book is built upon the mass according to the Latin rite. The Maronite mass expresses a different tradition, a tradition passed from generation to generation in the Syriac language. The appendix explains the differences and fills the voids with regard to this tradition.

A special thanks to Father Rafic, a priest of the Saint James Vicariate, who is Maronite himself and also serves in the Maronite Church in the Holy Land, for writing the appendix. Likewise, thanks to the John Paul II Foundation which generously financially supports the publications of the Vicariate. Thanks also to Mr. Mounir Hodali, the director of the Latin Patriarchate's printing press in Beit Jala, who designs these publications.
